BRC-20 Concept

The BRC-20 token standard, initiated by @domodata in March, 2023, represents an innovative experiment in creating fungible tokens for Bitcoin.

The term "BRC-20" plays on Ethereum's ERC-20 token standard.

The initial token contract launched under this standard was for the "ordi" token, featuring a cap of 1,000 tokens per mint and a total supply of 21,000,000 tokens.

This standard leverages Ordinal inscriptions of JSON data to facilitate the deployment of token contracts, minting of tokens, and seamless token transfers.
